On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, Dr. Mehdi Khajavi, CEO of Nardis Company, conducted a site visit to the ongoing construction and commissioning progress of the Normal Hexane Solvent Unit at the Tehran Oil Refinery.
This project, aimed at producing normal hexane—free from aromatics and benzene—was commissioned to Nardis Company by the Tehran Oil Refining Company in May 2021. The unit utilizes by-products from the Isomerization unit to produce high-purity (52% and 85%) normal hexane.
According to Mr. Mohammadreza Hosseinkhah, the Project Manager, this unit is currently in the commissioning phase and has already successfully achieved a product purity of 96%. He highlighted that the completion of this operational unit will generate 6 to 7 times more added value per barrel compared to gas condensates.
It is worth noting that a significant benefit of establishing this hexane production unit is the removal of harmful compounds, such as mercaptans (sulfur-based compounds), thereby contributing to public health and environmental safety.
